Murder Ballad
Greenwich Theatre presents a new London revival of the rock opera musical Murder Ballad, our first in-house musical in two decades. Dates:
Tuesday 30th September – Sunday 26th October 2025
Last seen in London in 2016, Murder Ballad comes to Greenwich with its rock opera vibes, telling the passionate and gritty story of a love triangle gone wrong.
Murder Ballad is a dramatic, razor-sharp tale of modern relationships, abandoned dreams and treachery in New York City. This boldly brilliant and explosive musical follows three people, disillusioned by life and caught in a secret love triangle that threatens to tear their lives apart.
Uptown girl Sara is stuck in the middle, torn between her downtown background and her uptown future. As her past lingers seductively and dangerously in front of her, Murder Ballad questions whether the one that got away is really worth risking everything for.
Staying faithful to the tradition of all great murder ballads, when songs of love-gone-wrong are sung, blood must be spilled.
Conceived by, and with book and lyrics by Julia Jordan. Music and lyrics by Juliana Nash.

Reviews
Murder Ballad drips with desire
Shows this sassy don’t come along that often. Poignant, punchy and perfectly performed, Murder Ballad drips with desire.
Plenty of sharp wit
When you fall in love with someone you only have eyes for them. If they ignore you, it can feel as if you’ve been erased. It’s a kind of murder – or so it proves in Julia Jordan and Juliana Nash’s clever chamber rock musical which has plenty of sharp wit and the driving force of a noir thriller.
Fresh and alive
Although the story of a spurned husband and an adulterous wife is nothing new, using the murder ballad to tell the story kept the story fresh and alive. With a feel of The Last Five Years meets Chicago, Murder Ballad had everything you could ask for from a new musical, and the fact that it has a strong cast, there really is no reason not to go.
